Ano ang #AmbagMo?

Fighting this pandemic has us scrambling for ways to solve it holistically—from implementing quarantines, finding a vaccine to prevent further fatalities, and most especially to protect health care practitioners. According to the World Health Organization, the ideal doctor-to-patient ratio is 1:10,000. In the Philippines, the current ratio stands at 1:40,000. Not only is this scarcity the problem, but also the number nurses who chose to work abroad. The unavailability of personal protective equipment (PPE) has left health workers vulnerable and are subject to quarantine, resulting in lower numbers of active personnel.

Our Response

Given that the concentration of COVID-19 cases are in the National Capital Region, aid is also focused here. This has called AKABA to reinforce its cause for the communities it continues to help through AmbagPH—a private fundraising initiative composed of volunteers from multiple sectors that aim to provide emergency assistance to remote provinces in the Philippines.

Meet The Online Community Managers

Luigi says, “I try to find ways to help, whenever and however way I can. Given the circumstance of being stuck at home, I wanted to find a way to help out. I started with my own fundraiser with friends and now this! I’m just glad to be able to do more for those in need,”

Adi, a Consular and Diplomatic Affairs major has dedicated her undergraduate research in identifying the responses needed in that region. She thinks that being part of this makes the dream work!

Salamat! Mabuhay!
